Introduce yourself.

James Clark, Jr., CEO, BetterBroker Real Estate

What does a typical day look like for you?
Setting up meetings with investors, developers, etc. Spending time with like-minded folks who want to change the world to be a better place, providing equality for all.

What inspired you to start your company?
I identified a major problem in the real estate brokerage industry, and that is the top-heavy nature, which holds the middle man and the little man down. It is practically impossible to not only thrive in this industry, but to simply survive.

My team and I are now ready to disrupt this industry on a national scale. We will be known as the guys who transformed residential and commercial real estate brokerage by empowering the majority to reduce the 80-90% failure expectancy within two years of being in the business.

What’s your favorite thing about Virginia?
I have lived all over this state. I grew up in southwestern Virginia (Martinsville); did undergrad in Farmville (Longwood); started my career in Richmond; lived in Northern Virginia briefly; moved the family to Norfolk (Colliers International – Senior Director); lived in Harrisonburg for a few months while building up my businesses; moved to Charlottesville (Statewide Commercial launch – my commercial real estate brokerage company); and now we’re back in Richmond as of two years ago.

Let me say that I know this state very well and have developed strong connections. I would never want to live anywhere else, and at this time, finally, realize that Richmond is it. No more moving. With that said, what I love most about Virginia is the diversity. Demographically, each region is completely different than the others. This also goes for a geographical standpoint, as we have mountains, beaches, you name it. And the culture is a very diverse angle as well.
