Clean Trade connects independent dealers with people looking to trade in their car. We cut out the middle man, getting people more cash for their trade in, and providing small dealers with better access to inventory.
Hey! This is Taylor and Curtis Sandbek, father and son team, and together we run Clean Trade.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Curtis is a serial entrepreneur. A day for him starts at around 5 a.m., managing his businesses in Maryland from his office at Truck World RVA in Richmond. Growing up, I always wanted to be just like my dad. It’s been a lifelong dream to run a business together, and I get the chance to do that every day. We live five minutes away from each other out in Goochland. When we’re not working, we’re at home enjoying the land and the outdoors.
What inspired you to start your company?
I have worked in almost every facet of the automotive industry. Most obvious to me in my time working in this field is how inefficient the flow of inventory from consumer to dealer is, and how antiquated the current systems are. I wasn’t looking to start another company, but the need and the opportunity for a change became so apparent. The solution just seemed to be right in front of me, and Clean Trade was born.
What’s your favorite thing about Virginia?
Richmond. It’s a big city and a small town wrapped in one. It’s an absolute sweet spot. You can be downtown bar hopping local breweries, then take a walk along the river, then in twenty minutes you’re out in the country and can see a million stars. I haven’t found any other place with such a vibrant downtown so close to such an incredible country.
