Tegg Technologies developed an all-new micro-architecture to provide a low-cost entry point for developers of all levels to incorporate machine learning into any project.

What does a typical day look like for you?
My typical day starts with getting ready for work then getting my coffee and breakfast. At the moment, I have a full-time job working on elevators and escalators, as well as general maintenance around the store for a major retail outlet. They have been my only employer thus far and have taught me many invaluable skills. During any breaks I take at that job, I spend my time checking in with people assisting with Tegg or working on our product design. Around 4 p.m., my full-time job is typically wrapped up. Then, from 5-11 p.m., I spend my time on various aspects of Tegg, ranging from product design to business planning. On the weekends, I spend roughly 75% of my time awake on advancing Tegg. The remainder of that time is spent primarily playing various video games or watching movies with friends.
What inspired you to start your company?
When we here at Tegg took a look around, we saw very expensive barriers and technical limitations for a hobbyist to really dig into incorporating machine learning into their day-to-day projects. An example is needing an expensive computer or constant network connection in order to properly develop robotics and other projects that utilize the full power and potential of machine learning. To combat this barrier, we have been designing a brand new micro-architecture to provide one of the best micro-controller experiences to date. Combining the power of SIMD based tensor computing and multi-core architectures into a single, lower power SoC (System-on-a-Chip), we have devised a plan to work around these barriers and bring affordable machine learning tools that are truly open to anyone who wants to get involved.
What’s your favorite thing about Virginia?
The people I have met and the connections I have made are my favorite parts of Virginia. My other favorite thing is all the places to go hiking, I don’t go often, but when I do, it always gives me a chance to see some beautiful Virginia scenery.
