What does a typical day look like for you?
Most mornings start before the sun rises with a Pokemon “briefing” from my 5-year-old twins. From there it is a dynamic, highly-orchestrated tag team effort to get everyone off to the races with full bellies and brushed teeth. Then I spend hours researching tech trends, engaging with thought leaders and adjusting accordingly. On good days, I knock off three meaty “to-dos” and move the ball down the field on a few others. I often fall asleep reading to the kids and only to wake up with a second act about 10 p.m. That’s when I tackle the last of my email queue before getting shuteye to start the day again. Somewhere in there, I fit exercise and time with friends/family, but when and how all depends on the day.
What inspired you to start your company?
IT teams and business teams ultimately want the same thing – to delight customers. Technology constraints are the bottleneck – no one likes them, no one wants them, and yet we all end up having to navigate them. It begs the question, what could we do if we didn’t have to worry so much about “how” things work but rather just “what” we want to do. So, when given the opportunity to jump ship from a 10-year tenure at one of the largest companies in the world to make this happen, I did, and have never looked back.
What’s your favorite thing about Virginia?
I cherish the people – especially the volume of curious, smart, and practical problem solvers.
