MajorClarity helps middle and high school students actually try out careers through video and activity-based content, then matches them to courses their school offers and post-secondary pursuits based on the best career path for them.
Joe Belsterling, CEO of MajorClarity
What does a typical day look like for you?
To be honest, I don’t think I have a typical day. We’re at the stage when we’re past just a few people on staff, but are still small/understaffed – so most of my days I’m just plugging in for a position we don’t yet have or on a team that is understaffed. Basically, it changes every day, and I just go with the flow!
What inspired you to start your company?
MajorClarity first originated because of my own educational experience, but what pushed me to turn it into a company was the larger societal problems I uncovered when I started down that path – and the potential I saw to truly impact, and even repurpose, one of the most integral institutions of the country: K-12 education.
What’s your favorite thing about Virginia?
I’d probably have to say the startup community because: (1) it’s vibrant and amazing, and (2) I haven’t really gotten to experience too much in Richmond outside of work or meeting up with other people in the startup community yet.
