Compiled builds software and tools which provides solutions to complex e-discovery processes.
Justin Blessing, CEO, Compiled
What does a typical day look like for you?
I start the day with French press coffee at home or, if I had a late-night coding, I’ll get a Red Eye at Sefton’s. When I arrive at the office, I’ll write a list of action items to complete throughout the day, then my day starts with the easiest task for quick motivation. I’ll generally focus on sales tasks in the morning, field support questions throughout the day, and fit in coding tasks anywhere between. I strive to be home by 5. Then I’m off for a run. I try to work 2 to 3 evenings for more programming – ideal for uninterrupted coding time.
What inspired you to start your company?
While working for a major law firm, and then a regional eDiscovery service provider, I identified a need to develop software to solve issues related to the production of discovery documents in litigation. The eDiscovery industry has many vendor-specific files for exchanging data (known as load files). However, before ReadySuite (Compiled’s software), no solutions existed which could visually convert among the proprietary file formats. ReadySuite was developed to deal with these complex situations – and new features are built around this core functionality.
What’s your favorite thing about Virginia?
This can be anything – an activity, a destination, a restaurant, etc. Richmond – easily the best part about Virginia. I love running from my home in Church Hill, around the flood wall, to Belle Isle, along the James River, and back through downtown. I find it a treat to live in a beautiful city with the river flowing through it and the awesome running trails on both sides of the James.
